Stuck on a Hard Decision? Stop Spinning, Start Sorting
By Breebo

Indecision isn’t a personality flaw. It’s usually fear wearing a spreadsheet costume.
Anxiety wants certainty. Life offers odds.
Hard decisions feel impossible because your brain is hunting a risk-free option. Spoiler: that aisle is empty.
Most big choices are trade-offs with incomplete information. Waiting for a feeling of 100% sure is how people wait themselves into stuck.
A sorting method that cuts the drama
- Write both options. No poetry. Just facts.
- List what you’d gain and what you’d give up. Be honest about the trade.
- Ask: which choice matches my values this year — not my fear this hour?
- Pick a review date. Decisions aren’t tattoos.
If both options still tie, ask which regret you’d rather live with — and which version of you you’re becoming by choosing. Still imperfect. Much clearer than spinning.
Give your brain a deadline
Open-ended rumination expands to fill the night. A gentle deadline (“I’ll decide by Sunday”) turns fog into a container. You can still change course later. You’re not carving it into stone.
